Student Video Advances to Top Four Finals in NESN Next Producer Competition
Sacred Heart University’s Kieran McGirl ’15 has advanced to the Top Four finals in the New England Sports Network’s NESN Next Producer competition. If his short sports documentary, The Rise and Fall of Johnny Hockey, wins the most online votes, the senior media and communications studies student will win $20,000 and a job opportunity with NESN.
Billed as “part Shark Tank, part America’s Got Talent,” NESN Next Producer is a new series showcasing New England college filmmakers, their visions and their stories. This week, McGirl and his competitors will meet the series’ legendary Hollywood judges—Tom Werner, television Hall of Famer and Red Sox chairman, and Brad Falchuk, co-creator and executive producer and a creative force behind the hits Glee, American Horror Story and more. Tune in on Monday, May 11, at 8 p.m. to see them give McGirl the critique of a lifetime. The winner will be announced on the May 18 episode.
It’s not too late to support McGirl. Tune in to the final two episodes of NESN Next Producer, watch his video and give him your vote here. We wish him the best of luck as he progresses to the finale—and congratulate him on making it to the final four!
