The American Institute for Economic Research (AIER) has named Bridgeport-Norwalk-Stamford, Conn., the eighth-best small city for college students. Boulder, Colo. was first. AIER compiled data from various metro areas across the country, taking into consideration information about student life, culture, economic health and opportunity. The organization’s philosophy is that “the people students meet, the places they go and the jobs they may hold are essential supplements to formal education.”

Sacred Heart University’s main Fairfield campus is located on the Gold Coast of Connecticut and is surrounded by Bridgeport, Trumbull, Westport, Monroe and Easton. The University also has a campus in downtown Stamford.

Fairfield is number 44 on Money.com’s best places to live list, which is based on criteria such as great jobs, strong economies, affordable homes, excellent schools and more. In its description, the website notes Fairfield’s easy access to New York City by train, thriving downtown, lively restaurant scene and five miles of beaches on the Long Island Sound coastline.
