Annual Giving is Sacred Heart University’s foremost fund-raising priority. Annual contributions from alumni and friends support what is already exceptional about this University, like our financial aid program and information technology resources, while allowing us to continually enrich our curriculum so that we continue to excel and remain competitive with our peer schools.
Like most universities, Sacred Heart relies heavily on the support from alumni, parents, and friends to provide the much needed “unrestricted and current-use” funds that supplement tuition. Your annual support impacts each and every student at SHU.
Here are just a few areas that are heavily impacted by the Annual Fund:
Financial Aid – SHU accepts many talented students who cannot afford full tuition expenses. In fact, 88% of Sacred Heart University’s current full-time undergraduate students receive some amount of financial aid. Without the generous support of our benefactors, a SHU education would be nearly impossible for the majority of our students.
Information Technology – The Annual Fund makes it possible for SHU to purchase the most state-of-the-art technology. SHU ranked 11th on Intel’s list of “Most ‘Unwired’ College Campuses” in America. The entire indoor and outdoor campus is "wired" to support anytime, anywhere learning with network access via wireless throughout campus as well as network jacks in most on campus dorms.
Recruitment and Retention – Gifts to the Annual Fund allow SHU to offer competitive compensation packages to our professors, keep our student-to-faculty ratio low, our classrooms up-to-date, and our campus beautiful.
Volunteerism - For an unprecedented 12th year in a row, SHU earned statewide honors for community service. Gifts to the Annual Fund support service-learning programs that connect the University and its community.
