ABOUT THE STUDENT MOBILE COMPUTING PROGRAM
Sacred
Heart University's vision for the future of education is one in which technology plays an important part. Our goal is to expose our students to as much technology as practically possible, and to help create an environment where the use of technology becomes both familiar and second nature. Our Mobile Computing program and our wireless network initiative are examples of our dedication to that goal.
The University is part of a select group of academic institutions that embraces the mobile computing philosophy. Every full-time undergraduate student is issued a laptop to support our mission of anytime, anywhere learning.
Sacred
Heart University strives to remain current with technology advances. As a full-time undergraduate student you will receive a new laptop every two years at no additional cost to you. Upon graduation, you will receive a two year old laptop to keep provided you have been with the university as a full-time student for four years or you have been a full-time student for two years and are graduating with a bachelor's degree.
All laptops are covered by
warranty as well as insurance protection. The University staffs an inhouse technical support team to address any issues related to our laptops.
The Factory which houses our Notebook Service Center as well as our IT Call Center, has certified technicians that provide over the counter technical support and repair services. The IT
Call Center also provides over the phone and onsite support for all IT related services. The Factory maintains an inventory of laptops available for exchange anytime a student walks in with a problem and the laptops has to go behind the counter. In support of anytime, anywhere learning the Factory stocks charged batteries which can be exchange for discharged batteries through the day.
Our
Computer Literacy Program offers unlimited training in computer fundamentals and commonly used software applications.
