STAR I
Students Taking Active Roles

STAR is an acronym for Students Taking Active Roles. This interactive eight-week course is offered by the Student Activities Office in an effort to improve student leadership skills in a co-curricular setting.  STAR sessions are taught by many different representatives of the SHU Community in order to offer a variety of learning experiences to all participants. Skills obtained will benefit students both academically and socially.

STAR strives to:

  • Improve student leadership in a co-curricular setting.
  • Inform students of quality leadership opportunities.
  • Help students develop personal goals and become involved in the future development of the program.
  • Provide opportunities for students to have an impact on their peers and the community by demonstrating leadership abilities.
  • Provide some management concepts and training to enhance existing basic skills.
  • Skills obtained will benefit students academically and socially.
