| |  | | JOIN THE BAND My name is Keith Johnston and I am the Director of Bands here at Sacred Heart University. First I want to say 'Thank You' for showing interest in the University and the Pioneer Bands program. Sacred Heart University is truly one of the fastest growing universities on the East Coast, and you are going to play a vital role in the continuation of that growth and expansion.
I encourage you to consider participating in the Sacred Heart University Pioneer Bands. The Pioneer Bands are a special organization, which can become a very important part of your college career. Through participation in any of our ensembles, you will have the opportunity to perform, travel, and make life-long friendships. The Pioneer Marching Band rehearses two times a week and performs at all home football games, selected away football games, selected parades, and at high school band competitions as an exhibition performance. Our Pep Band performs at Men's/Women's Basketball and Men's Ice Hockey home games including all tournaments. The competitive Winter Guard performs both locally and nationally. While our Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble are offered for one credit each.
Tuition Assistance is offered to students who participate in the Pioneer Marching Band, Pioneer Pep Band, or the Winter Guard. The tuition assistance comes in the form of band grants. These band grants are provided to reward students for the contribution of their time and talents. Band grants are a great way to help offset university fees. There are also a limited number of scholarships available for incoming Freshman and transfer students to the University.
