The Sacred Heart University Jazz Ensemble (MU-138) gives students the opportunity to perform music from a variety of jazz styles, and to learn and expand their skills and knowledge of jazz and improvisation. Improvisation skills are not required for admittance into the ensemble.  Basic improvisation skills will be covered.

Students wishing to be in the jazz ensemble must complete an additional audition at the beginning of the year because there are limited positions available.  The Jazz Ensemble can take a few different forms depending on the interest level.  It can be anything from a small jazz combo, to a big band type of format.  


Jazz Ensemble can can be taken for one credit, or for those over the full-time limit, registering for 0 credits is possible. Jazz Ensemble can be applied toward the Music Minor.
