2008 Christmas Concert – Presented by the University Concert Band with the University Concert Choir Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 4:00 PM
Welcome in the Christmas season with the Sacred Heart University Concert Band in its annual holiday program, featuring members of the 94th Army reserve band!
The concert will also feature trumpet soloist Gene Pocius, performing the "Trumpeter's Lullaby", "Prayer of Saint Gregory", and the virtuosic trumpet solo "The Virgin of the Macarena". |
The Sacred Heart University Concert Band performs varied repertoire from the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble literature. Membership is open to instrumentalists from the campus community. University Concert Band will meet Monday and Thursday evenings from 7:45pm-9:45pm in the Fall and Spring semesters. University Concert Band is a one credit course and can be applied to either of the Music Minor's that Sacred Heart University has to offer, Theory Based or Performance based.
**Students who have reached their maximum allotment of credits for the semester may still sign up for University Band for 0 credits without penalty**
Students interested in University Concert Band should register for MU-136. At the end of the Fall semester we will present a Christmas concert. The Spring semester will work the same way and will meet at the same times. For more information on how University Band will be structured click here.
The University Concert Band performs traditional as well as contemporary works, and is active in commissioning new works for band. The Concert Band presents 1 concert each semester in the Edgerton Center for the Performing Arts on the SHU campus.
