1.) What is the housing situation on campus?
Housing-guaranteed for four years is offered through seven well appointed
residence halls. All freshman dorms include kitchens, lounges and laundry facilities-and theme floors are available for students with special interests. Upper classmen dorms include apartment style campus living. Students always have a say in choosing roommates and picking rooms via a lottery style, tenure based selection process.
2.) What services does Public Safety offer to ensure the safety of my child?
Officers on duty 24/7 via foot, car and bike, including state-certified Emergency Medical Technicians, firefighters, and individuals trained or certified in CPR, first aid, and fire safety.
- Large public safety staff, including patrol, dispatch, and information control. Officers and guards remain in constant radio contact.
- Computer-enhanced alarm systems and key-card entry systems for residence halls.
- Residence hall security obtains ID's, records visits, and monitors for emergencies.
- Full time firefighter serves as the University's own fire safety officer, inspecting dorms and all buildings on a regular basis.
- Dusk-to-dawn personal safety escort program and scheduled shuttle service.
- Regular security awareness trainings, safety orientations, and "Adopt-a-Dorm" outreach effort, introducing officers to residents.
3.) What if my child becomes sick? Are there any services available?
- We offer a fully staffed Health Services department that includes a doctor, nurse, nurse practitioners, and medical technicians.
- Basic lab tests, prescriptions, and vaccinations are handled on campus.
- Local hospitals respond rapidly to emergencies as well as Fairfield Police and Fire Department and Sacred Heart public safety.
4.) How does my son or daughter choose a major?
We realize that choosing a major may be difficult for some which is why SHU steps in with the "Major in Success program." Major in success is a proven system for zeroing in on one's greatest strengths and providing them with potential job opportunities that would fit them best. Each student will also have an academic advisor that can guide them into the right direction on the types of courses they should be taking and internship opportunities that they can take advantage of .

7.) Do you offer Study Abroad programs?
Opportunities are available for students to study abroad in over 30 different countries. Some of the great locations include Australia, Costa Rica, England, France, Hong Kong, Singapore, Spain, Mexico, Peru and Russia. Sacred Heart also has two sponsored programs of Italy and Ireland.
8.) Do Teaching Assistants or Professors teach the classes?
All classes are taught by full-time faculty members, 81% of who holding the terminal degree in their field. Sacred Heart has truly dedicated faculty and staff that aim to inspire and motivate students at every opportunity. 9.) Is financial assistance available? What percentage of students receive aid?
Financial assistance is available to all families who qualify and submit their financial aid forms. About 85% of our students receive some type of aid. Aid can be in the form of scholarships, grants, work-study, or loans. In order to qualify for any type of financial aid you must submit both the FAFSA and CSS Profile prior to February 15th.
10.) What is the Student Mobile Computing Program?
This program provides a laptop computer to all incoming freshman with a two year refresher after sophomore year. However, you don't JUST receive a computer. You also receive software bundles, 24 hour tech support, battery replacements, loaner laptops in the event of a repair, wireless internet access plus much more.
