What is CLEP?
The College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) gives you the opportunity to receive college credit for what you already know by earning qualifying scores on any of 34 examinations. Earn credit for knowledge you've acquired through independent study, prior course work, on-the-job training, professional development, cultural pursuits, or internships. Learn how CLEP helps you.
Although we do not administer the DSST or Excelsior test, Sacred Heart University does award college credit for successful completion of the tests. Sacred Heart University also awards credit for non-collegiate sponsored learning evaluated by the American Council on Education (ACE) and the New York Regents. Up to 60 credits can be earned through these methods.

CLEP Exam dates offered at our Stamford Campus. Due to limited space, you are advised to register as soon as possible.
To register for a CLEP Exam you must:
- Register for CLEP Exam by completing the online CLEP registration form. Please be sure to register for your test approximately one week in advance to ensure your place.
- The CLEP exam fee is $77.00 per exam payable by credit card on the day of the exam.
- The Sacred Heart University exam fee is $120.00 per exam, to be paid before the scheduled exam. It is payable by check or online by credit card
- There is an additional $10.00 fee for each essay.
