FACULTY AND STUDENT INTERACTION

Field Trip to KidAbilities with first year Master of Science in Occupational Therapy students

For the faculty of Sacred Heart University's occupational therapy program, students are considered to be our future colleagues and are treated as such.  Our class size is small and the faculty is able to get to know each student well.  Our maximum class size for a cohort is 25, but all PBL tutorial groups are typically conducted in groups of 6, and never more than 8.

Faculty-student interactions occur in the classroom, during lab activities and also outside of the classroom.  The faculty is intimately involved with the students in their development of Capstone research projects and in their activities in OT clubs and organizations to raise money to attend national OT conferences.  Students and faculty have participated in Thanksgiving meals organized and cooked by the students and in holiday parties given by the students.  Students have also been involved in a variety of service learning efforts organized by various faculty members.
