The Biology Department houses three clubs and organizations.  Below are descriptions and a list of officers for each club and organization.  Click on the link to contact the officers for more information.

THE BIOLOGY CLUB
The primary mission of The Sacred Heart University (SHU) Biology Club is to increase the awareness of the SHU community concerning how issues related to the science of biology affect their lives.  Members of the club further this mission by organizing and participating in events (presentations, speakers, films, etc) that increase awareness of the current biological issues of our time (for example: global warming, emerging infectious disease, stem cell research).  In addition, club members: travel to scientific meetings to present and view original research, participate in projects that serve the local community, and travel to locations of biological interest (zoos, nature reserves, research complexes).  The Sacred heart University Biology Club is associated with the American Institute of Biological Sciences as an official student chapter and membership is open to all students of the SHU community.

The exclusive National Biological Honor Society of the Nu Phi chapter of Beta Beta Beta at Sacred Heart University has a goal of improving the understanding and appreciation of biological study as well as extending the boundaries of human knowledge through scientific research. Tri beta invites members from all levels ranging from “advanced” to “beginner” concentrations, which provides an amazing support system for all those involved. We aim to advance the members of our group by immersing them in what we love, as well as in a society of people who share the same passion. In order to make sure our organization is successful, we ask that all members are an active member of the Biology Club, have a 3.0 GPA in all science courses they have taken thus far, and a cumulative 3.0 GPA. The Nu Phi Chapter of SHU Tri Beta is open to the SHU Biology community.

American Medical Student Association (AMSA)-

The main purpose of AMSA on campus is to inform the SHU and surrounding communities on current health issues and policies. AMSA also aims to help members with preliminary courses needed for their future schooling. Members will heavily enforce the promotion of preventative care and its involvement in government.   Members of the club will organize and participate in events (presentations, speakers, films, etc) that increase awareness of the current medical issues of our time (for example: vaccinations, government policies and new-age medicines). The Sacred Heart University chapter of AMSA is associated with the national American Medical Student Association as an official student chapter and membership is open to all students of the SHU community.
