Welcome to the College of Education and Health Professions at Sacred Heart University. We invite you to learn about exciting new programs and initiatives that reflect our commitment to service, active and engaged learning, and professional excellence. New academic programs of which we are particularly proud include the Saturday Educational Leadership and the Connecticut Literacy Specialist programs in the Department of Education and the Doctor of Physical Therapy program in the Department of Physical Therapy and Human Movement Science.
The College has state-of-the-art motion analysis, observation, ergonomics, athletic training, and clinical skills laboratories to support the Physical Therapy, Human Movement and Sports Science, and Occupational Therapy programs. Our Nursing Department houses ambulatory care, acute care, and computer technology laboratories. The Education Department has a model classroom that supports our focus on teacher preparation for elementary education.
Online learning initiatives include the Education Technology Certificate Program in the Department of Education. The RN to BSN degree in the department of Nursing Program and the Graduate Certificate in Geriatric Health and Wellness are two programs within the College that are offered completely on-line. An on-line Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree program was implemented this past fall.
The College has expanded its commitment to the Health and Wellness Center of Sacred Heart University and St. Charles Roman Catholic Church in Bridgeport. This is a collaborative initiative designed to address the unmet health and wellness needs of the parish while promoting the education, service and research goals of the University. This project and others under development will continue our commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary and community-based programs.
