Sacred Heart University Academic Music Program
Thanks for stopping by our website! The Sacred Heart University music program is the place for you if you love music. Participate in one of our ensembles, and you'll have the opportunity to make friends and be around others who share your interests. We have exciting choral groups and vocal ensembles where you can use, develop and showcase your unique vocal talents and abilities in a friendly and nurturing environment.
Currently, we are inviting all singers to audition for our Choir Leadership Grant, a renewable scholarship open to students participating in the Liturgical Choir and the choir program. Instrumentalists are invited to participate in the Band, and are eligible for the Pioneer Band grant. A number of students participate in both the choir and band grant programs.
Our varied choral and instrumental groups, from the 4 Heart Harmony Chamber Choir, the Concert Choir, the Concert Band, Guitar ensemble to the Jazz band among others, offer a great place to use your talents! For those that want to take their interest even further, we offer a music minor with interesting and exciting courses. Our classroom courses, open to all majors, will teach you about all kinds of fascinating music, classical to contemporary, new and old.
We have a highly experienced and dedicated music faculty who have literally performed all around the world, from jazz festivals in Brazil, opera houses in Germany, Broadway shows and concerts in New York's Carnegie Hall to St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, The Kremlin and the White House. All of us on the SHU music faculty are excited about music, and want to share it with you! After you've looked around our website, I hope you will visit us in person!
