Welcome to the Sacred Heart University Baccalaureate Social Work Program (BSW) website. Social work is a profession committed to working with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and the community to help people maximize their well being and to help resolve, minimize, or prevent problems-in-living. During this time of uncertainty, the practice of social work is more challenging than ever before, but the reward for meeting this challenge through social work education is a meaningful career helping those most in need.
Sacred Heart has a relatively small Social Work program with individualized learning, close faculty contact and advisement, and a highly personal focus. Another highlight of the program is that students spend three semesters in field agencies as social work interns, learning practice skills under the supervision of professional social workers. Graduates of the program have been highly successful in their search for employment and in graduate school admissions. Many of our graduates have assumed leadership positions in social service agencies and in various professional organizations.
