GREEK LIFE GOES BACK TO GIVE BACK

On Nov. 30-Dec. 1, 2011, the Greek Community at Sacred Heart University went back in time to relive our childhood in order to give back to today’s youth through our first annual fundraising project, Greek Life Goes Back to Give Back. We held a 24-hour see-saw-a-thon in which each sorority and fraternity on campus kept five see-saws occupied for 24-hours. In addition, there were a number of different playground games, music and entertainment in which we invited the campus and community to participate.
The funds raised through Greek Life Goes Back to Give Back will help the Six to Six Interdistrict Magnet School of Bridgeport, CT build a new playground. The children and families of Six to Six have been working tirelessly to recycle bottles and cans, saving every last penny to replace their deteriorating wooden playground. The Greek community is hoping that with this event and your help, these children will be one step closer to a fun and safe place to play.
The total expected cost of the new playground is $75,000. As of December 12, 2011, we have raised $10,790! Our goal for Greek Life Goes Back to Give Back is to raise $12,000. We are asking for your help and support in reaching our goal. Your contribution will go a long way in the livelihood of today’s youth in the Bridgeport community.
