THE CATHOLIC SOCIAL THOUGHT SCHOLARS PROGRAM

“Some men see things as they are and ask ‘Why?'
I dream things that never were and ask, ‘Why not?'”
—Senator Robert F. Kennedy, 1968

“I am indicating what I take to be the best way to work in a study club. Just take the Gospels, a newspaper, the papal encyclicals, and get to work.”
—Dorothy Day, Co-founder of the Catholic Worker

Welcome to CSTS, the Catholic Social Thought Scholars Program. This is a scholarship program for people who want to change the world! We also believe that is one of the most exciting study opportunities at Sacred Heart, and one that perfectly reflects the University's mission. The mission of the program is simple:

The Catholic Social Thought Scholars Program promotes the study of the Catholic social tradition and trains students to be future leaders who will apply the ethical wisdom of that tradition to their society and world.

If you are a student who shares that mission—or is just intrigued by it—we invite you to read further on this website. You can find out here about what Scholars in the program study, what they do to serve, and what they accomplish. If this sound right for you and your are a freshman or sophomore, then please apply online. If you would like to find out more, then please contact on of the directors.
