The Sacred Heart University math club was reconstituted in the spring of 2004 and is open to all students interested in math and science. At its bi-weekly meetings in the past, participants have enjoyed refreshments while playing games of logic for fun prizes. The Club sends a team of students to compete at the Central Connecticut Math Competition in New Britain every year. The Club also encourages students to attend local conferences and to give talks or present posters. The past two years the club has invited speakers to give campus wide talks. Dr. Tom Garrity from Williams College was the speaker in Spring 09 and Dr. John Allen Paulos in Spring 10. Future plans include discussions of career opportunities in mathematics and math related fields, hosting a campus-wide competition in logic games, and traveling on field-trips to museums and theaters.
