Sacred
Heart University's
Center for Mission Education and Reflection (CMER) sponsors the "Faculty Conversations" program for orienting new faculty members to the mission and Catholic identity of the University. The
CMER Faculty Committee members (many of whom are Collegium alumni) coordinate the sessions for each year's cohort of new faculty.
The series of "conversations" takes place over the course of the entire academic year, creating a community of conversation that keeps the issues before the minds of the faculty and encourages them to participate in and develop new activities to promote the University's mission. Each session is an open-ended forum focused by previously distributed readings and led by a faculty member or a guest speaker. These orientation conversations connect new faculty members with members of the CMER committee and other faculty colleagues who serve as informal mentors during the conversations.
