PART-TIME NON-EXEMPT STAFF
(“Benefits eligible” defined as a minimum of 20 hours/week for 52 weeks or a minimum of 25 hours/week for 40 weeks of employment per year)
* Medical Insurance: Contributory; choice of 3 plan options with United Healthcare (UHC): Enriched, Core and Basic. All plans are open access point-of-service network plans. Participation is voluntary, and is subject to a waiting period.
* Dental Insurance: Employees enrolled in any of the above medical plans are automatically covered on Base Dental Plan at University cost. Optional coverage for spouse and/or dependent children at employee cost. Buy-up plan is also available. Eligibility is subject to a waiting period.
* Pre-Tax Medical/Dental Premium Contribution: Payroll contributions for medical and dental insurance are deducted on a pre-tax basis, providing a saving to the employee on federal, state and FICA taxes. Employees have the option to elect post-tax deductions.
* Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA): Available as optional benefit for pre-tax employee contributions for health care or dependent care spending accounts. Participation is subject to a waiting period.
Retirement Plan: 403(b) defined contribution plan. Participation is voluntary and is subject to a one year waiting period. Eligibility for participation will be determined on the basis of meeting eligible service requirements and immediate prior employment at educational institution employer. Plan is contributory; employee contribution of 5% of base salary is required for the University matching contribution of 8% of base salary. Fully and immediately vested.
Voluntary Supplemental Tax-deferred Retirement Savings Plan: 403(b) plan. Available for making voluntary/ additional tax-deferred employee contributions as an optional benefit, as of the first of the month following date of employment.
Tuition Remission: Starts at 50% of available benefit in first year of employment and increases to 75% in second year and 100% in the third year for employee tuition. There are also limits to the number of courses/credits available each semester. Dependent tuition benefit starts at 25% and goes to 100% in the fourth year of employment.
Vacation: A) Pro-rated during the first fiscal year; earned at 5 days for each fiscal year of employment. Increases to 10 days after completing five years of service and to 15 days after ten years service. Details in the Employee Policy Handbook. B) Employees on less than 12 months employment basis are not eligible for vacation benefit.
* New employees will be eligible for medical & dental insurance coverage and for FSA participation as of the first of the month coinciding with or following 30 days of employment.
NOTE: The University reserves the right to review and/or amend the benefits plans at any time, in whole or in part, without prior notice to participants, including but not limited to changing eligibility criteria, scope of coverage or plan coverage costs, and imposing limits on or restricting or eliminating covered expenses. The University also reserves the right to terminate or discontinue any benefit plan, in whole or in part, at any time without prior notice to participants.
