1. Open the System Preference window. This can be found on the dock or in the Utilities
folder. Then select "Print & Fax" from the Hardware section.
2. Click on the "+" button to add a printer. If printers are already installed they will show
up on the list on the left side of the window. If the lock at the bottom left of the window
is locked, click on the lock and enter your password to unlock the area for changes.
3. On the Add Printer window, select the "Advanced" option. This button may not be
present. If the "Advanced" option isn't shown, right-click in the toolbar and select
"Customize Toolbar...". Then click on the icon for Advanced and drag it up into
the Toolbar and click Done.
4. After clicking Advanced, enter the following information:
A. FOR PRINTERS
Type:
Windows
Device:
Another Device
URL:
smb://shuprt1.sacredheart.edu/printername
Name:
Doesn’t matter what the name is
Location:
Doesn’t matter what the location is
Print Using: Generic PostScript Printer
B. FOR COPIERS:

Print Using:
Select Printer Software…

5. After clicking “Select Printer Software…” the Printer Software window will open.
Search for the appropriate driver using the search box and scrolling through the list
until you find the appropriate driver. You may need to download and install the
appropriate copier driver before installation. Copier drivers can be found on
https://software.sacredheart.edu/
