
Mr. Vasantha Rao Chigurupati is an A.B.D. in finance from the University of Connecticut, Storrs where he is currently pursuing Ph.D. in finance. His prior academic qualifications include an MBA in finance from UConn, a Master of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and a Bachelor of Technology from the National Institute of Technology, Trichy
Before joining Sacred Heart, Mr. Chigurupati worked as a visiting instructor of finance at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT. He has taught Financial Modeling for UGs and Portfolio Theory and Practice for both UGs and MBAs at QU and Financial Management, Investments and Derivatives and Risk Management to UGs at UConn.
Mr. Chigurupati’s research interests are in Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance and Risk Management. His dissertation essays were presented at several national conferences viz. FMA, EFA, and SWFA. His paper titled “Capital Market Frictions, Leasing and Investment” won the outstanding doctoral student paper award at SWFA, 2010 annual meetings in Dallas.
Before pursuing his Ph.D., Mr. Chigurupati has worked for eight years in India in various capacities in R&D, Process Plant Design, Technical Sales & Marketing and IT industries. He has worked as a summer intern at GE Edgelab, Stamford, during summer 2004, where he received an award for displaying outstanding creativity in problem solving.
Mr. Chigurupati is a member of Beta, Gamma and Sigma, the American Finance Association (AFA), Western Finance Association (WFA), the Financial Management Association (FMA) and the Eastern Finance Association (EFA).
