Jason Grimes, PT, MPT, OCS, ATC, Clinical Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy

Jason Grimes received his professional education at Quinnipiac University, earning a BS in 2002 and Master’s degree in Physical Therapy in 2004.  While working towards his graduate degree at Quinnipiac, he also completed his training in sports medicine and became a Certified Athletic Trainer in 2003.  After graduation, Professor Grimes began practicing in and ultimately managing an outpatient orthopedic facility in Connecticut with Physiotherapy Associates, where he specialized in orthopedic and sports physical therapy.  During that time, he completed additional training in multiple areas including manual therapy with the University of St. Augustine, Functional Capacity Evaluations, and golf performance enhancement.  He became board certified as a Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in 2007. 

Professor Grimes has been employed full-time with Sacred Heart University since 2008, first as a Clinical Physical Therapist and recently accepting an appointment to Clinical Assistant Professor in August, 2010.  His teaching responsibilities have been focused in the area of Musculoskeletal Examination and Intervention in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program.  Professor Grimes also serves as a Mentor in the Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency Program.  He has remained active in clinical practice through the University in both the Occupational Medicine program at St. Vincent’s Immediate Health Care Centers, as well as the clinical faculty practice located on campus at the William H. Pitt Health & Recreation Center.

Professor Grimes has been an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 2000.  In 2003, he received the APTA’s Mary McMillan Award.  He continues to participate in the Connecticut chapter of the APTA by attending chapter events and presenting at their Annual Fall Conference.
