Employer Spotlights
During these one hour sessions, employers will discuss career opportunities, corporate culture, and products or services. Typically, students will have an opportunity to speak with the representatives (sometimes recent SHU grads) in small groups or individually before or after the presentation. These sessions are an excellent opportunity to connect with professionals within their industry of choice. There will be a total of 7 employer spotlights throughout the fall and spring semester featuring organizations such as
GE,
UBS, and
Diageo.
Networking
Networking is a critical tool in any modern job or internship search. Students need to start early to develop the skills necessary to build and maintain their own professional network. If you are planning a career related panel/guest speaker or activity we would be happy to co-sponsor a networking event to compliment your pre-planned activity. We will contact alumni and/or some of our employer partners to participate, creating a valuable networking opportunity for all.
In-Class Presentations
These interactive in-class presentations on career topics are designed to help your students with their career related goals or assist them in the process of obtaining internships/jobs. All presentations are customized for the specific Majors/Programs participating. Possible topics include:
- An Introduction to Career Services
- Interests, Strengths, and Values Assessment
- Deciding on a Major
- Résumé and Cover Letter Writing
- Interviewing Techniques
- Job Search Strategies
Requests for presentations will be on a first come, first served basis. The timing of the presentation can be adjusted to fit your needs. Please make all requests at least two weeks in advance.
