As Pope Benedict XVI begins his sacred ministry as successor to St. Peter, the Sacred Heart University community offers him our prayers and good wishes. In his choice of the name Benedict, he honors the memory and legacy of Pope Benedict XV who reigned during World War I and who was known for promoting peace and the easing of suffering. This first and very significant act of his papacy signals to a world torn by war and terror that our new Holy Father aims to be, from the very start, a man of peace.
