Debbie L. Simmons, DNP, ANP-BC, COHN-S, Assistant Professor & Coordinator of Online Learning
Dr. Debbie Simmon's current and prior positions have allowed her the opportunity to have administrative and clinical impact at the "systems" level and to measure this impact against quality indicators and industry benchmarks. She has found that viewing clinical impacts using this "wide angle lens" has been exciting and is what really prompted her interest in "systems" analysis and research.
Dr. Simmons has enjoyed a lengthy nursing career with the last ten in advanced practice nursing roles that have also included independent private practice as an adult nurse practitioner, consultant for quality and performance programs, Director of Education for a national healthcare organization and graduate/undergraduate faculty positions in traditional and distance learning programs.
Dr. Simmons's areas of specialty and expertise include Adult Primary Care, Occupational and Environmental Health and Nursing Education with a strong research interest in community nursing, use of technology for nursing education and quality and outcome & performance measurement in healthcare organizations.
