In fact, there's so much to do in town, Fairfield County, metro-NYC and the New England region, you can't really get the whole story in just a short visit. So if you're pressed for time, let us help you cram:
Get outdoors Nestled on Long Island Sound, Coastal Fairfield County offers wonderful beaches, parks, hiking and recreation – including student favorites: Penfield Beach and Reef, Beardsley Zoo, The Cascades, Devil's Den, and several premium golf courses. Throughout New England you'll find endless outdoor excursions – from downhill skiing and snowboarding to mountain biking and climbing.
See the sites With a convenient train to Grand Central Station right from neighboring Bridgeport (accessible by SHU shuttle), New York City and the metro sites are close at hand – from Broadway to museums to sporting events. Touring the Connecticut area will also keep you busy: scenic Westport and eclectic New Haven are top spots among students. Road or rail trips to lively Boston may also entice you.
Go to a show Of course, major performers like Barenaked Ladies, Jay-Z and Adam Sandler appear right on campus at SHU's Edgerton Center for the Performing Arts. Yet the Fairfield County area offers many more options for culture and entertainment, including the Bridgeport Arena and Stamford Center for the Arts. Plus, easy access to NYC and Boston puts virtually any hot ticket event in reach.
Shop & dine You'll find all varieties of stores and restaurants in downtown Fairfield. From artsy shops to convenience stops. From pubs and bistros to fine five-star gourmet dining. Plus, there are regular shuttles to the local Trumbull Mall. To make a day of it, you might venture to the well-known Greenwich, CT, Shopping District – or, of course, to NYC.
