ETCP goals are aligned with the University's overall mission of "assisting in the development of people knowledgeable of self, rooted in faith, educated in mind, compassionate in heart, responsive to social and civic obligations, and able to respond to an ever-changing world."
This alignment is evidenced through the ability of the program and its faculty to:
- Provide support and leadership for pre-service teachers, current teachers, administrators, and other school personnel through professional development training, distance learning opportunities, and curriculum resources
- Improve teacher quality and enhance student achievement through the development of new instructional methodologies
- Encourage the development of innovative uses for emerging technologies
- Engage in scholarly activities to advance knowledge and practice in the utilization of educational technologies
- Assure equitable student access to all available SHU technologies
- Enter into collaborative partnerships with outside organizations and the community
These goals further support the Vision of Isabelle Farrington College of Education's Conceptual Framework by promoting professional and academic excellence among Educational Technology Program participants. The Conceptual Framework identifies five Domains of Excellence:
