Dance Team Auditions at SHU - Sacred Heart University

Dance Team Auditions are being held on Saturday, May 7, 2011. If you are interested in being a part of a huge tradition at SHU, please arrive at 11am to the Pitt Center.

Audition Date: Saturday, May 7, 2011
Time: 11:00am - 4:00pm
Location: William H. Pitt Center Aerobic Room

Please be prompt and ready to begin at 11:00am. You may wear dance pants and a tank top or leotard, whatever you are comfortable dancing in and also any type of jazz shoe.

We will begin auditions with a group stretch led by the team captains and also give some individual stretch time. Then you will have time to practice leaps, turns and jumps across the floor. You will learn a short routine that you will use to audition. There will be plenty of practice time for the routine and for technical skills. You must also have a routine prepared that showcases your best style of dance, it can be a routine from your studio or high school team or one that you choreographed and should be one minute in length. Please bring your own music on CD.

Auditions take place throughout the day. All individuals are seated outside of the room and assigned a number to wear. You will be called into the room in small groups. Each individual will perform their personal routine as well as the routine we teach and various required skills. There may be callbacks and a list will be posted with the numbers of those who are selected by the end of the day.

I am so fortunate to be completing my 12th season here as the Coach of this amazing team and am excited about all the new talent that will be arriving in the Class of 2015!
