Kim Collins’ passion, flexibility and sensitivity as a performer have provided for a diverse freelance career as an orchestral flutist, chamber musician, and teacher. She is Principal Flutist of the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra, and has made regular and guest Principal Flute appearances with the Vermont, Springfield (MA), Hartford, and New Haven Symphonies. Kim performs as a substitute flutist with “Wicked” on Broadway, and is a regular performer for shows at the Bushnell and Shubert Theaters in Connecticut. She has performed as soloist throughout the United States, Europe, the Middle East (including an appearance at the Jerash International Festival in Jordan) and China. Kim currently maintains a private studio of advanced students in addition to teaching flute at Southern CT State University, and Fairfield University. She has previously been on the flute faculty of Neighborhood Music School, The Hartt School Community Division and Choate Rosemary Hall. Kim received her musical education at the Hartt School of Music. Her primary teachers have included John Wion, Keith Underwood and Michael Parloff.
