Academic Writing: This course is designed to improve sentence clarity and paragraph organization. Through editing and focusing on revision strategies, students will work toward a complete text which will integrate and document academic sources. (2 hours per week)
Combined Skills: This course integrates reading, writing, listening and speaking. Communicative tasks develop language strategies that increase students’ comfort level in real-world settings. Course includes video and audio to bring the text to life in the classroom. (2 hours per week)
Listening: This course improves general listening ability, lecture comprehension and note-taking skills. Students will learn about the features of the spoken language which make it most challenging and will be given opportunities to listen to the different American English accents. (2 hours per week)

Public Speaking/Presentation Skills: This course works toward strengthening the students’ necessary language and preparation skills, in order to develop their confidence in oral communications. Students have the flexibility to use their own interest area or business concentration as subject matter. (2 hours per week)
Practical Grammar: This course emphasizes immediate application of grammatical forms and meanings. A variety of exercises will be used to practice sentence patterns, clauses, verbs, and other written forms. This class is an intensive use of grammar exercises. (2 hours per week)
Pronunciation and Accent Correction: This course concentrates on speaking clearly and accurately. All aspects of the language are addressed: sounds, stress, rhythms and intonations. Students will practice and understand English pronunciation and learn to communicate fluently by reducing their own accent. (2 hours per week)
Reading/Comprehension: This course implements contemporary fiction and non-fiction as a base upon which to build on the students’ reading comprehension, vocabulary and ability to discuss ideas. The students are expected to understand the written material and respond verbally and in writing. (2 hours per week)
TOEFL/TOEIC Test Preparation Course: This course equips the student will all the skills and confidence they will need to succeed in the TOEFL or the TOEIC test. Adult TESOL Graduate Certificate: The course teaches the foundation theory that is required to understand how a foreign speaker acquires and learns English. The course is firmly grounded in practical experience. All learners are required to perform observation and practicum hours on campus in an adult ESL program. Vocabulary and Idioms: This course builds upon the students’ vocabulary and helps them understand and produce vocabulary at a university level. Classes focus on idioms, phrases and phrasal verbs, the components which make English so difficult. Students will learn strategies to help them continue to increase their vocabulary.
