Dr. Rupendra Paliwal

Dr. Rupendra Paliwal has been named the associate dean for Academic Affairs in the John F. Welch College of Business at Sacred Heart University. An assistant professor of Finance, he has been with the University for six years.

In his new responsibilities, Dr. Paliwal will oversee the process of reaffirmation of accreditation by the AACSB, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The Welch College of Business is one of an elite five percent of the world’s schools of business to achieve this distinction. Meeting AACSB standards requires a high-quality teaching environment, a commitment to continuous improvement, and curricula responsive to the needs of business.

Dr. Paliwal earned his undergraduate degree in engineering in his native India where he also received an MBA in finance. For three years, he worked on the National Stock Exchange of India before beginning studies at the University of Connecticut leading to his Ph.D. in Finance. He has taught courses in Financial Management, International Financial Management, and Derivatives and Risk Management.  He has presented his research at national and international conferences and published in the area of Mergers and Acquisitions.

The John F. Welch College of Business earned AACSB accreditation in 2006 and will undergo a periodic re-evaluation after five years. It continues to expand its offerings to meet the needs of business with new programs and a steadily growing enrollment.

As associate dean, Dr. Paliwal will also serve on the University’s steering committee for accreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and will assist the dean in the management and governance of the College.
