Mi Amigo is a mentoring program in which SHU students spend an hour each week at the Luiz Marin School in Bridgeport. The mentors assist their mentees (Grades 2-5) with academics as well as simply being a positive role-model. Throughout the year, Mi Amigo goes on field trips such as pumpkin picking, the Discovery Museum, and Beardsley Zoo. The mentees truly look up to the SHU mentors and love seeing them each week. This program is especially great for those with a busy schedule, as students can choose when to mentor and still make a difference in a child’s life.
