PATRICIA C. DASILVA, PH.D.

Patricia DaSilvaPatricia C. DaSilva, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Education Leadership IFSOE,

Dr. DaSilva has 34 years of experience in K–12 public education in Connecticut of which 23 years have been as a school leader and administrator.  Her area of expertise is special education and she has served as a special education teacher and department head and elementary school principal. Most recently, she was Principal of Buttonball Lane School in Glastonbury, CT.  She was principal of Borough and Stafford schools prior to this. Dr. DaSilva received her doctorate and sixth year degree in educational administration from the University of Connecticut and MS in Education degree from Southern CT State University. 

Dr. DaSilva is known for her success in working collaboratively to develop and lead dynamic school teams of professional educators and community constituencies committed to educational excellence and student learning.   During her tenure as principal, one of her schools was selected by the U. S. Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.

Dr. DaSilva is particularly well-known for her success in promoting continuous school improvement through the use of data-driven decision-making to encourage performance-based assessment. With state standards as central forces and utilizing both quantitative and qualitative methods of assessment, she was at the heart of the development of a very unique project to promote student learning through hands-on professional development, which was implemented in collaboration with The Hartford Stage Company and supported by grants from The Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism and The Glastonbury Parent Teacher Student Organization. 

Dr. DaSilva’s career has been defined by her passion for educating with a children-first philosophy and her demonstration of ethical leadership. Ready to further contribute these and much more, she is eager to influence future leaders in the field of education.
