6th Year Certificates of Advanced Study are available in three areas: Advanced Studies in Administration, Advanced Studies in Teaching, and Advanced Studies in Literacy.
The CAS Administration Degree Program is designed for those interested in further study in Educational Administration and Leadership and for maintaining administrative certification. The Sixth Year Degree consists of an additional 15 credits beyond the Intermediate Administrator Certificate Program. Many students in this program continue on to doctoral studies.
The CAS Literacy Degree Program is to prepare candidates to lead educators and school districts into the best practices of school reform available in the 21st century. They will be knowledgeable proponents of action research and change agents assisting schools in promoting community literacy as well as student performance. Through this program certified Connecticut teachers may obtain certification as a Remedial Reading Specialist (102) as well as a Remedial Reading Consultant (097).
Certificate Program in Advanced Teaching is a flexible curriculum allowing the experienced classroom teacher to customize a program to fit his/her professional goals and interests.
