Sacred Heart University's Isabelle Farrington School of Educaton offers a graduate program leading to Connecticut public school teacher certification in Elementary Education (Grades K-6), as well as Secondary Education (Grades 7-12) in the following subject areas:
- Biology
- Business education
- Chemistry
- English
- General science
- Mathematics
- Social studies/history
- Spanish
The graduate program for initial teacher certification is designed for those who have completed undergraduate degrees in areas other than education. Policies for admission and completion of this program are governed by the University and the Connecticut State Department of Education.
Students who successfully complete the teacher certification program may apply some of their credits towards the Master of Arts in Teaching degree at Sacred Heart University.
The Teacher certification curriculum may also be completed in conjunction with the 33 credit equivilent tuition-paid Internship program.
