The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at the John F. Welch College of Business provides an opportunity for individuals to prepare for managerial positions in today's complex and dynamic environment. Our MBA program places strong emphasis on:
- the application of business theory to the realities of the business world;
- a higher degree of scholarship and teamwork;
- the recognition of the demands of an increasingly competitive, multicultural, global economy characterized by rapid technological innovation
- superior product and service quality demands
Sacred Heart University's MBA degree program focuses on a common core of courses which examines all the functions within a business enterprise and the external environment within which it operates. Beyond this core, the student may choose to study in-depth in one of three academic concentrations: Accounting, Finance, and General Management.
Our MBA primarily serves professionally employed students who want to earn an advanced degree under the direction of faculty members who possess excellent academic credentials and pragmatic business expertise. Most graduate business classes are conducted in the evening.
The MBA program's objectives are to develop: - Management decision-making skills for business, government, health care and non-profit organizations;
- Ethical standards to provide a framework for responsible decision making;
- Problem-solving, critical thinking and analytical skills in order to respond quickly and creatively to today's business problems;
- Computer skills to utilize technology in making organizations more efficient and competitive;
- Global awareness as more businesses compete in a world marketplace and the workplace itself becomes more diverse and multicultural.
To help students achieve these objectives, the University relies on faculty members who are dedicated to teaching. The faculty combine broad business experience and academic training, making the learning experience at Sacred Heart University truly unique.
MBA Program for Liberal Arts and Science Majors: This program will allow a student that has a non-business Bachelor degree to obtain their MBA in 2 years or less. In addition, the program incorporates a domestic internship as well as one in Luxembourg, Europe, providing students with solid exposure to the world of business and their specific field of interest. One of the most compelling reasons to choose this educational option is that the business world continues to be a dynamic but competitive place, and more and more corporations are requiring an MBA for even entry level positions.
As soon as students are accepted into the program, they are assigned an MBA faculty advisor in addition to their undergraduate faculty advisor, if they are still completing their undergraduate work.
