The Percussion Ensemble (MU-299WW) focuses on small ensemble performance techniques and literature. This small chamber ensemble allows members to focus on individual performance in a smaller and more intimate setting. Percussion ensemble performs music from a wide range of repertoire, including classical, contemporary, and popular styles. Percussion Ensemble performs throughout the semester at various venues.
Members utilize skills on keyboard, battery, concert, auxiliary, hand percussion, and world percussion instruments. Basic techniques are covered through masterclasses that are given throughout the year. Many different types of instruments are covered so that everyone has a background on any instruments that may be played. Many different genres and composers are covered to expose members to the vast diversity of percussion ensemble literature.
Percussion Ensemble can can be taken for one credit, or for those over the full-time limit, registering for 0 credits is possible. Percussion Ensemble can be applied toward the Music Minor.
