GENERAL INFORMATION
There is no question that living and studying in a foreign country can be a unique experience.  Some students even consider it “eye-opening” as well as “life-altering.”   The reasons listed below are among those commonly considered as important benefits to studying abroad.  Are your personal goals among them?

  • To attain personal and intellectual growth
  • To experience cultural diversity
  • To gain a new understanding of your own native culture
  • To succeed in a different academic environment
  • To learn or perfect a foreign language
  • To diversify your studies
  • To enhance possible future employment opportunities
  • To travel and meet new people

Want to learn more about accepting this extraordinary challenge?  Well, as you might suspect there are several equally important parts that make up the total study abroad process.  Below are some “building blocks” that are key to establishing a solid and worthwhile study abroad experience. Answers to these questions and more can be found throughout the Study Abroad web site or by contacting the Study Abroad office.

    1. Finding the right program at the right time in your academic career
    2. Application and acceptance process
    3. Course approvals and forms
    4. Pre-departure/Orientation meetings
    5. Monitoring the experience abroad
    6. Reentry and evaluation

In summary, I think you will agree that your possible decision to study abroad is indeed most exciting.  If you embrace the challenge, I can assure you that I have observed the positive transformation of many from college students to confident, globally aware individuals.  I definitely encourage you to take the leap yourself.

Please accept my best wishes and total commitment to working with you as you embark on what might be one of the most unforgettable experiences of your life.
