EDWARD D. HENDRICKS, PH.D.
Edward D. Hendricks, Ph.D., Clinical Assistant Professor, joined the School of Education faculty at Sacred Heart University in 2005, and had previously served as a faculty member and Director of the University’s Leadership Studies Program.

Dr. Hendricks earned both BS and BA degrees with High Honors from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he also served as Student Body President. He earned an MA degree from the State University of New York at Albany, and a Ph.D. degree in Education from Capella University.

Professionally, Dr. Hendricks was President and CEO of a major international trade organization in which capacity he had the opportunity to serve as a guest lecturer and instructor at several higher education institutions across the United States and Europe on topics related to adult learning, professional development, leadership and management.  Dr. Hendricks subsequently founded his own training and speaking company through which he provided professional development programs for K-16 educational institutions, and served as a keynote speaker and trainer at many corporate, nonprofit and educational conferences throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia.

In addition to his teaching duties, Dr. Hendricks presently serves as coordinator of the School of Education’s accreditation efforts. The School of Education has recently achieved full approval of all of its programs from the Connecticut State Department of Education, and is a candidate for accreditation from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

Dr. Hendricks is a Professional Member of the National Speakers Association, and has completed the Graduate School of Coaching of the International Coaching Federation. He is the author of two books and a contributing author of three other books. His current research interests are focused on the impact of national standards on the pedagogical styles and methods of teacher educators in teacher preparation programs.
