Federal Sources

Eligibility Requirements

Award Ranges

Federal PELL Grant

U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien enrolled as a college undergraduate

$400 - $5,350 a year

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)

U.S. Citizen or permanent resident alien enrolled as an undergraduate with exceptional financial need


$100 - $4,000 a year


Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) Awarded to undergraduate students who are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant, are U.S. citizens, and who have completed a rigorous secondary school program of study. up to $750 for the first year and $1300 for the second year
GI Bill/Yellow Ribbon Program






Only individuals entitled to the maximum benefit rate (based on service requirements) may receive this funding. Therefore, they may be eligible if they served an aggregate period of active duty after September 10, 2001, of at least 36 months; they were honorably discharged from active duty for a service connected disability and they served 30 continuous days after September 10, 2001; they are a dependent eligible for Transfer of Entitlement under the Post-9/11 GI Bill based on a veteran’s service under the eligibility criteria listed above. Diane Kline Memorial Scholarship

An endowed scholarship awarded to undergraduate part time adult students who demonstrate financial need beyond what financial aid covers and is enrolled at least half time for each semester. Variable


Miller Adult Education Scholarship

An endowed scholarship awarded to undergraduate part time adult students who demonstrate financial need beyond what financial aid covers and is enrolled at least half time for each semester. Variable


Tomoko Yamashita Memorial Scholarship

An endowed scholarship awarded to undergraduate part time adult students who demonstrate financial need beyond what financial aid covers and is enrolled at least half time for each semester. Preference will be given to Graphic Art or Art majors. Variable

Connecticut Independent College Student Grant (CICSG) Undergraduate Connecticut residents with financial need enrolled in an independent college or university in Connecticut.

Connecticut Community Service Program
Undergraduates Connecticut residents with financial need who work in community service projects in affiliation with the CICSG program as noted above. Variable

Additional Sources of Private Gift Aid
Both the Office of Student Financial Assistance (SFA) and University College (UC) provide information for external financial assistance opportunities.  UC has compiled resources for all part-time adult students as well.  This resource book includes descriptions and requirements for numerous scholarships.  Resource books are available at all of the UC advisor's offices.  Students are encouraged to see their academic advisors for more information.
