2003 DISCOVERY AWARDS DINNER RAISES RECORD $300,000 FOR SCHOLARSHIPS

FAIRFIELD, Conn., May 21, 2003—Sacred Heart University held its 14th Annual Discovery Awards and Scholarship Dinner on Saturday, May 10. Almost 400 friends of the University gathered for the celebration at the William H. Pitt Health and Recreation Center on the Fairfield campus. A record $300,000, a 33% increase over last year, was raised to benefit the scholarship fund.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of 2003 Discovery Awards to Congressman Christopher Shays, noted menswear designer Joseph Abboud, and Robert M. Devlin, chairman of Curragh Capital Partners, a New York-based venture capital firm. The Rev. Thomas F. Lynch, pastor of St. James Church, Stratford, Conn., was the recipient of the Bishop Walter W. Curtis Medal of Honor. Dave Price, weather personality for Fox 5/WNYW, acted as Master of Ceremonies for the evening. Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, along with 15 Sacred Heart University scholarship students, were among the special guests
