Sacred Heart University’s 20th Annual Pioneer Open Golf Tournament will take place on Monday, June 8th at Rockrimmon Country Club in Stamford, Conn. The event will begin with registration at 9:30 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at noon. The day will close with a dinner, silent auction and awards presentation at 5:30 p.m.
This year’s honorary chair is actor and Sacred Heart University alumnus John Ratzenberger of Cheers and Pixar fame. Event Co-chairs are SHU Trustees Larry Foley and Jim Morley. LPGA guest professionals Nicole Hage and Candy Hannemann will be on hand to conduct pre-tournament short game and driving clinics in addition to on-course Beat-the-Pro and Power Drive competitions.
The Pioneer Open raises valuable scholarship funds for deserving SHU students. 100% of the net proceeds from the tournament directly support the University’s Scholarship Fund. Nearly 90% of SHU students receive some form of financial assistance, without which, college may not be a reality. In the tournament’s history, more than $500,000 in direct scholarship assistance has been raised.
