SHU AND NCC TO SIGN SOCIAL WORK ARTICULATION AGREEMENT TO EASE STUDENT TRANSFERS
Sacred Heart University and Norwalk Community College will formally sign an articulation agreement to assure a seamless transfer for NCC students in social work. The ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 2, at 12:30 in the Boardroom of the William H. Pitt Health and Recreation Center at Sacred Heart.

More than half of the graduates at Norwalk Community College transfer to four-year institutions including Sacred Heart, and the University already has an agreement in place to ease the transfer of business students. This new understanding will assure students in human services that the courses they are taking at Norwalk Community College will transfer to SHU’s four-year program in social work, eliminating costly and time-consuming surprises.

According to Professor Joan A. Pollack, director of the Baccalaureate Social Work Program at SHU, the University has more than 55 majors at present – students preparing for an accredited Bachelor of Social Work degree. Upon graduation, many students continue their educations by pursuing a Master of Social Work degree, or they begin professional careers in the field. Graduates are employed in a wide variety of settings from social agencies and schools to probation systems and centers for abused women. Sacred Heart BSW recipients can complete their master’s degrees in as little as two semesters.
