Media Studies and Communication & Technology Studies majors are involved in a variety of media production endeavors that benefit the entire Sacred Heart Community. These students have the opportunity to work hands-on in their field of focus to produce publications, movies, news reports, radio shows, advertisements, and much more.
The organizations offer students the opportunity to get involved at Sacred Heart while providing news and entertainment for their peers.
The Pulse
The Pulse is a student run production that serves as a showcase for university and local community stories and images. It is a video news magazine that engages Sacred Heart University students, faculty and staff and serves as a shining example of our students' sand talents. So tune in and look forward to seeing more of the Pulse!
The Spectrum
The Spectrum is a student-run weekly newspaper publication first established in 1983. The staff consists of 19 editors and more than a dozen staff writers and contributing writers. The writing staff is fueled by News Writing and Reporting Classes in which students learn the fundamentals of news writing, while being published weekly in the Spectrum. The Spectrum office is located in the Administration Building, across from the Campus Bookstore and next to the Print Lab. The paper comes out every Thursday morning and also can be viewed on the Spectrum Web site http://www.sacredheartspectrum.com/ Professor Joanne Kabak is the Advisor/Editorial Consultant of the publication. WHRT-SHU Radio
WHRT is a student run radio station that serves the students of Sacred Heart University. We mix the best in new music and talk with favorites of the past. Those involved with the station can expect a fun environment that offers real world challenges applicable to any career path. SHUBOX
The department currently supports four student-run organizations that create and produce their work right on campus. SHUBOX, our student run television station, The Pulse, a video news magazine attracting engaging the SHU community , Sacred Heart Radio News, highlighting important events and topics represented by WSHU Radio, and WHRT-SHU Radio, Sacred Heart's very own student run radio station.
