
One of the most innovative and important people in computer history will speak at Sacred Heart University on Monday, April 27, 2009. Dan Bricklin will talk in University Commons at 6:15pm. His talk will be followed by refreshments and a question and answer session, concluding at 8:30pm.
Dan Bricklin wrote (with Bob Frankston) the first electronic spreadsheet in 1979. That program, known as VisiCalc, was the direct inspiration for Excel, the electronic spreadsheet used through the world today.
He has been profiled in many publications, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Newsweek, Time, BusinessWeek, Forbes, Fortune, Inc., and Business 2.0. He has also been the subject of segments on public television (including Triumph of the Nerds)
Dan is coming to Sacred Heart University to help celebrate the Computer Science Department's 25
th anniversary.
