DR. ROBERTO GOIZUETA TO SPEAK ON CURRENT IMMIGRATION ISSUES

Dr. Robert Goizueta

Dr. Roberto Goizueta, a professor of theology at Boston College, will discuss immigration issues at Sacred Heart University on Wednesday, February 18th, at 2 P.M. The presentation, “No Prophet is to Rise from Galilee: Reimagining the Border,” will address immigration to the United States and immigration communities, border people and the necessary response of welcome and solidarity from U.S. Catholics. It will take place in the Edgerton Center for the Performing Arts, and it is free and open to the public.

The former president of both the Catholic Theological Society of America and the Academy of Catholic Hispanic Theologians, Professor Goizueta has written extensively on U.S. and Latin American theologies; theology and culture; immigration issues; and social responsibility.

A Cuban-American, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Yale University and his master’s and Ph.D. from Marquette University.

The public lecture is sponsored by SHU’s Center for Catholic Thought, Ethics, and Culture (CCTEC) and will be presented as part of the University’s Core Curriculum Colloquia Series.
