JOSEPH NAGY, M.A.
 

Instructor of English Joseph Nagy teaches academic writing and Literary Expressions of the Human Journey in the Common Core program, and is a freshman academic advisor. He joined Sacred Heart University as an adjunct instructor in 1999, and was appointed full time in 2008. Before joining academia, he was for 14 years a writer, editor, and senior editor at Asiaweek newsmagazine in Hong Kong. Between journalism and teaching, he served for five years as a volunteer community organizer with the Institute of Cultural Affairs in Chicago, working in communities in Maine and Minnesota, and in a Hakka village in rural Hong Kong. He received his B.A. in English from Fairfield University in 1971, and an M.A. in Liberal Studies from Regis University in 1998. His research is focused on teaching critical thinking skills to young people within a writing program.
