SHU graduate students, Tiffany Shakro, left, and Keith Hudson, both representing the office of Residential Life, got into the Christmas spirit by volunteering at a gift-wrapping event at the Golden Hill Methodist Church in Bridgeport. All donated gifts will go to needy families in the surrounding area. |
For over 12 years, Sacred Heart University has been collaborating with Golden Hill Methodist Church in Bridgeport to provide Christmas baskets of food, toys and other gifts for families in need. This year, the need was greater than ever and SHU stepped up to the plate by adopting 54 families from the east side of Bridgeport, an area where many SHU students work and volunteer. After the bounty of donations was collected, representatives from the University volunteered to wrap the gifts at the church. The wrapped gifts will then be packed into holiday baskets by another group of volunteers and delivered to the families by Christmas. The generosity and joy of the season is alive and well in the SHU community!
