SAAC serves as an organization to communicate between student-athletes and the administration. We take issues that teams are facing throughout their season and try to come to resolutions with the help of the administration. On top of bringing light to the issues, we also
plan several events throughout the year that help student-athletes interact. Some of these include the freshman Olympics, the student-athlete auction, and hopefully, this upcoming year, a student-athlete dance. Another big aspect of SAAC is our ability to help the community. We have
several fundraisers and events during the year including writing letters to the troops during the holidays, the MS walk, and a breast cancer awareness walk.
One of the newest programs to SAAC is the work that we have done with the
literacy program at the Dunbar school in Bridgeport. We send representatives of Sacred Heart athletics to the school five days a week to help the students as well as doing extra projects such as a book drive and hopefully a field day to help the students there. We will have the second annual Student-Athlete auction this Spring. The proceeds from the auction go towards the Lisa Moray scholarship. Last year we raised over $4,200 for this fund. This Spring we also start the Red Wave project to help promote attendance at SHU athletic events.
Our appreciation goes out to the Faculty and Administration, and especially our student-athletes who have gotten us off to a good start this year. We hope you enjoy and participate in upcoming events!
Sincerely,
